My name is Kiara Johnson and I am participating in the Career Explore Summer Internship Program coordinated by Greeley/Evans School District 6 as part of the Mayor’s G.Town Promise. I was placed at the West Greeley Conservation District and our agreement is to work 150 hours from June through early August. I am involved with office work, field work, helping at Houston Gardens, assisting with special events, tours, and educational opportunities throughout Weld County. I am learning a great deal, this has been a rewarding opportunity.
I am in the Greeley West High School Future Farmers of America Chapter (the only Chapter in the school district). This is my sixth year with the chapter, but only my second official year. I have been an officer both years. Last year (2016-2017) as Executive Committee Historian and this year (2017-2018) as Chapter Historian.
I am also in 4-H and get to represent Weld County 4-H at the State Fair in the Performing Arts Contest in the dance division. I enjoy is dance and have been dancing for 14 years doing ballet and tap. I have been dancing in pointe for one year.
For both FFA and 4-H I breed and raise rabbits. I have seven of my own rabbits but I take care of around 20 rabbits for our Farm Project at school. Besides the rabbits I enjoy being around the other farm animals that are at the farm where I house the rabbits. I enjoy seeing all the little animals running around when all the mammas are giving birth and watching the little ones grow up. These activities keep me quite busy all year long.
